Planning for the rally on 23rd and 24th April 2022 is well underway

9th August 2021

It’s often said that any rally which runs once a year starts planning the next one the day after the last one finished.

While we’ve all been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the outlook for 2022 looks good and our preparations are well underway.

We’ll bring you more news on what you can look forward to as competitors, volunteers and residents over the coming months and we can’t wait to come-back to the Clacton & Tendring area.

Organisers’ statement – Corbeau Seats Rally Tendring & Clacton cancelled for 2021

24th January 2021

Our rally takes motorsport to the people within the Tendring and Clacton community. The area is currently experiencing the personal impacts and pressures on healthcare and wider support services from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Having consulted with our stakeholders including Tendring District Council, Essex Highways and Motorsport UK, we have concluded that the right and proper course of action is to cancel the rally for 2021.

We had hoped the rally would play its part in marking a return to normality in the area. However, with current Covid-19 uncertainties it’s simply too soon to do this responsibly, considering the welfare of the residents, competitors and volunteers, together with the current burdens on the NHS and other services.

Event Director Tony Clements said: “While we’re disappointed to cancel the rally for a second consecutive year, we’re heartened by the ongoing support from our partners and sponsors for the future of the rally. We’re pleased to announce the dates of 23rd and 24th April 2022 for the third running of the event.”

Cllr Alex Porter, Tendring District Council Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism, said: “While we share the disappointment of both the rally organisers and fans, we thank them for their support in prioritising the ongoing public health emergency. We look forward to welcoming the rally, its fans and visitors back next year as one of the key events in our area.”

Vic Lee, Managing Director of title sponsor Corbeau Seats, added “Well done to Chelmsford Motor Club for continuing to prioritise the safety of the community. Like you we’ll continue to support the rally and look forward to its return in 2022.”
